FAQ

What is sublimation?

In our industry, dye sublimation refers to the process of transferring the dye (or ink) from one medium, such as paper, to another medium, such as ceramic.  This is done by printing an image with sublimation ink, placing the printout on your product, then heating the products to transfer the ink.

By definition, sublimation is a chemical process that causes a solid to vaporize then become solid once again.  More detailed information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dye_sublimation

Coated blanks
- All of the products we offer work with sublimation.

Sublimation capable printer
- Epson and Ricoh printers work very well for sublimation

Will any ceramic product work with sublimation?

No, our ceramic products all have a special coating that is unique to our company.  When the ink on the transfer paper is heated to a specific temperature it will begin to evaporate from the paper and stick onto the coating.  Without the coating, the ink will not stick to the ceramic.

Are your products dishwasher safe?

Our 11oz and 15oz white ceramic mugs use our specially engineered Orca coating, which is dishwasher and microwave safe.  Look for Orca in the product name!
